Powerwhale Ride-on Car. A Kid’s dream!
I bought this car for as a gift my favorite nephew. Let me just begin by saying, it was the biggest hit I could have imagined! In a moment he was transformed to the “coolest kid on the block!”
While it is hard for me to review a product that I have barely seen up-close, I will start by the constant feedback I’m hearing from my nephew, his most elated parents, and the rest of his family. First of all, this is a kid’s dream come true. My nephew was busy with his siblings with a similar toy car, which was broken, and all they were doing was giving each other rides by manually pushing the car. That is what sparked the idea of me buying him as a gift this car that “actually pushes itself”.
The car has two driving modes: Either have the child sitting in the car drive themselves, or if the child has a hard time driving themselves there is a remote control that the parents can use. And it works quite well!
Using the remote control is actually better than I thought, because it works from quite far away, and there is no need for a parent to be chasing the car to keep the remote within range.
Steering: The angle at which the car can turn is pretty impressive for a toy this size, as it can make turns in a fairly versatile fashion. I watched the kids make U-turns in some fairly tight spots, with relative ease.
Battery Life: While the car can take pretty long to achieve a fully charged battery status, the car can be used for a long time… sorry, a VERY long time before the battery is exhausted. My nephew and his family and friends spend a couple hours a day outside using the car, and they still do not need to charge the battery until nighttime.
Safety: The car comes with a seat belt, and it’s not just for “show and tell”, or to make it mimic a real car. It is an actual seatbelt that can be adjusted to a child’s size. My nephew’s parents indicated that this feature really puts them at ease when they leave the kids alone with the car.
The down side: Many of these cars come as two-seaters, and my nephew wishes he can give his little brothers and sisters a ride. Unfortunately, this car seats only a single rider. (Unless they want to ride with a smaller kid on their lap, something that would truly require adult supervision.)
To wrap it up, this is hands-down a five-star rating!
