I don't see anywhere in the bed listing there will be a problem fitting a twin mattress. The mattress that came with the bed is like sleeping on a brick... VERY hard. I have extra twin size mattresses and this bed is to narrow for them to fit. The problem, the side rails will not lock into position because the bed platform is not wide enough for many typical twin mattresses. Seems like the bed was custom built for the blue mattress that comes with the bed. That blue mattress is not as wide as a regular twin mattress. The blue mattress is of no use to me...might as well sleep directly on the floor
