Should I run my heat pump during the day or at night?
You can find more information on our web, so please take a look.
Better is subjective because if youre talking about your wallet, its better to run the heat pump during the day because the heat pump can run more efficiently. This is because the heat pump converts the warmer ambient air and transfers that to your pool. As far as energy efficiency goes, youd want to run it during the day.
Now, if youre looking to swim in the morning, and you want it at 85 degrees in the morning, youre probably going to have to run it at night.
Another thing you could do is stagger the run times during the day. If you have a timer or automated control system, you could run the pump four hours on, four hours off, and you could do that throughout the day and night. That should maintain 85 degrees.
Or, lets say, you just want to run the pump during the day, you could get a solar cover. Just the traditional kind of bubble solar cover. If youre not interested in lugging that off the pool every time you want to use it, you can get a liquid solar blanket. A little solar balls or solar fish. If you dont want to do that, then maybe you dont want a pool. Now, it still should save you money on your heat pump, electricity bills, kind of works every which way. I think we both answered that correctly for once.

Unlike gas heaters, heat pumps are most efficient when they are run for long periods of time and when they are run often. This is because they heat very slowly but maintain temperatures very well. This will cost you both time and money. Alternatively, if you regularly run your heat pump, your heat pump will only have to replace heat lost due to evaporation, rainfall, etc. Heat pumps low costs of operation make this option affordable and practical.
