A highly stretchable plastic film generally made from Linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) wrapped around items is known as Stretch wrap. The elastic recovery of the wrap keeps the products tightly bound.

Stretch film is used to wrap products on smaller boxes and secure them tightly to each other. The wrap helps to reduce product loss, discourage load tampering, and reduce worker injury. In this blog the stretch and its various types are explained. There are a variety of specifications in the different types of stretch wraps or films.
1: Cast Stretch Wrap: This is also called as cast stretch film, and is manufactured using a cast extrusion process. The Cast extrusion process is a continuous process by which a thermoplastic material is melted and then extruded through a flat die onto a chill roll, where it is quenched and re-solidified. This process allows the Cast stretch film to have excellent clarity. This also makes the cast wrap to require less force to stretch, increased tear resistance, unwind quietly from machines, and offer a superior cling. The cast stretch films used in Pallet wrapping machine are available in both machine grade and hand grade.
Advantages: The main advantage of the cast wrap is that it is less expensive than blown stretch film, due to lower manufacturing costs. Thus cast stretch films are more popular. Increased clarity allows users to see wrapped products. In another benefit, cast stretch wrap used in Stretch wrapping machine unwinds quietly compared to blown stretch wrap. Cast stretch film offers two-sided cling that allows the wrap to stay securely packaged in its place.
Disadvantages of Cast Stretch Film: It does not offer the load/holding power that is provided by blown stretch film. Cast stretch film has less memory and tear-resistance than blown stretch film.
2: Blown Stretch Wrap: It is also referred to as blown stretch wrap film, and is manufactured using the blown extrusion process. The Plastic melt in this case is extruded through an annular slit die, usually vertically, to form a thin-walled tube. Then air is introduced from an opening in the center of the die to blow up the film tube like a balloon. On top of the film tube, an air ring blows onto the film to cool it down. This process allows blown film to be more robust and more resilient than cast film. The higher and more robust mechanical properties of blown film typically allow a more significant load holding power including the cases of box wrapping machine and reel wrapping machine.
Advantages of Blown Stretch Wrap: It offers a higher load and stretch capacity. Generally, the blown stretch film is a premium quality film. Blown stretch film has a higher degree of memory once stretched. This allows the product loads to stay better secured. Higher tear resistance is another advantage in the case of blown stretch film while securing loads with sharp edges.

Disadvantages of Blown Stretch Wrap: The blown stretch film has a higher cost due to the more detailed manufacturing process. The blown stretch wrap has poor clarity due to crystallization obtained out of the manufacturing process. Blown film is also generally noisy when unwound from rolls.
There are various types of wrap machines like Carton wrapping machine, Shrink bundling machine, Strapping machine, Semi-automatic shrink wrapping machine, Reel wrapping machine, Box wrapping machine, Packaging Machine, Shrink Packaging machine, Shrink wrapping machine, Automatic shrink wrapping machine, Stretch wrapping machine & Pallet wrapping machine. Sealer tunnels form another category of packaging machines which include- Automatic L sealer tunnel, L sealer tunnel, Web sealer tunnel, Automatic web sealer tunnel, & Shrink tunnel.
Higher packaging requirements increase work hours, labor costs, worker injury compensation and stretch wrap waste. They also take away time for other income-generating activities, such as production, sales and delivery.
You would notice these things happening to you when you’re manufacturing a product that becomes a local hit. You may get overwhelmed by the customers’ orders if you and a lone assistant are attending to every task.
A stretch wrap machine can reduce costs and recover valuable time and resources, which are vital for growing businesses. Despite its price and need for electricity, it will pay for itself over time, as it converts waste into value. Consider getting this equipment when it’s more cost-effective for you to do so.
The stretch wrap machine is not for everybody. However, the need for one indicates that business is expanding steadily. The time to get this equipment will be busy with planning, but must also be welcomed as a sign of progress.
