Highlight 1: Open cooperation

The continuous holding of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) which is getting better highlights China's determination to expand its opening-up consistently and its practical measures to actively interact with the world economy.

The CIIE has become a platform for international procurement, investment promotion, cultural exchanges, and open cooperation. This year, the total exhibition area of the enterprises exceeds that of the previous one, and the return rate of the world's top 500 and leading companies in the industry has surpassed 80%, indicating that the magnetism of the CIIE is still being released and China is still regarded as the most important consumer market.

The theme of the Hongqiao International Economic Forum held during this year's CIIE is "The World Economy under a Hundred-Year Change: Global Economic Cooperation in the Post-pandemic Era". In addition to the main forum, a high-level forum on "20th Anniversary of China's Accession to the World Trade Organization: Mutual Benefit, Win-Win and Create Future" will also be held.

It is worth noting that this forum will also release the "World Open Report 2021" and the "World Open Index". The index summarizes proven open experience, and also points out the direction and specific policy options for future openness, which are of reference value for the open practice of most economies.

Highlight 2: New exhibits

"New" is the eternal theme of the CIIE. The dazzling array of new exhibits and the new special area set up in time are important reasons for attracting buyers to come, and it is also the charm of the CIIE.

New exhibits and new technologies: Green and low-carbon is a major highlight of the CIIE. New technologies including hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and the "Zero-Carbon Factory" program were unveiled in a concentrated manner. The number of new products and new technologies in the medical exhibition area has outstripped the previous three sessions.

New trend and new experience: This year's CIIE is also a concentrated showcase of the achievements of urban digital transformation. In the exhibition scenario, digital RMB payment is fully covered, realizing one-stop consumer experience of digital RMB.

Highlight 3: Better exhibitors

In the 4th CIIE, 58 countries and 3 international organizations participated. Nearly 3,000 exhibitors from 127 countries and regions emerged in the exhibition. The number of countries and enterprises exceeded the previous one.

The scale of the exhibition is larger. The total exhibition area of the 4th CIIE was further expanded to 366,000 square meters. Countries with more exhibitors in the past, such as the United States, Japan, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy and other countries, have seen an overall increase in the number of exhibitors and the same exhibition area compared with the previous three shows. In addition, more than 600 companies from 50 countries along the “Belt and Road Initiative” also participated in this year's CIIE.

Exhibitors have better quality. The participation rate of the world's top 500 and leading enterprises in the industry exceeded 80%, and the number of exhibitors exceeded the previous session. The world's three largest auction houses, three major fashion high-end consumer goods groups, ten major automobile groups, ten major medical device companies, and ten major cosmetics companies all participated in the exhibition.

There are many new countries. 15 new countries were involved in this year's national exhibition. Among them, Congo (Brazzaville), Kiribati, Mauritius, Solomon Islands, Palestine and other five countries participated in the CIIE for the first time. Due to the impact of the epidemic, it is difficult for these countries to attend offline exhibitions. This year the CIIE will launch an online national exhibition, which provides these countries with the opportunity to participate "on the cloud."
