The structure of a centrifugal blower mainly consists of a casing, rotor assembly, sealing device, bearing support, lubrication system, and other components.

Housing

The casing of the centrifugal blower is made of cast iron or welded with a steel plate. The casing can be made into a horizontal split or worm shell according to the impeller form. For low-pressure centrifugal blower, the casing is mostly made into a horizontal split type. For single-stage blowers are mostly made into worm shell types. The role of the worm shell is to collect the gas after the impeller is pressurized and then flow into the flow channel.

Centrifugal multi-stage blower casing has a reflux chamber, partition, diffuser and other parts. The gas enters the return chamber by the diffuser and then is introduced into the next level impeller to continuously send the gas into the duct.

Inlet adjusting vane device

The inlet blade adjustment control device is used to regulate the airflow from the fan blades. Its structure is the entrance of the fan has a movable blade, installed in the radial side, changing the angle of the blade can make the impeller speed change.

The inlet blade adjustment control device is made of welded steel plate, and all blades are made to rotate 90° around the blade spindle in order to adjust the airflow rate from the fan. The structure of the inlet blade adjustment control device is shown in Figure 6. The blades can be oriented closed or open to suit the direction of rotation of the fan in order to give effective pre-spin flow to the inlet parts of the impeller.

Sealing

The inter-stage seal of centrifugal blowers for chemical plants is mostly labyrinth seal, and the most used labyrinth seal structures are Labyrinth seal and comb seal.

Labyrinth seal and comb seal inserts should generally be soft sheet metal, such as alloy aluminum and stainless steel sheet. Non-metallic materials are often plastic plates.

Rotor assembly

The main component of a centrifugal blower is the rotor, which is composed of impeller, main shaft, shaft sleeve, exhaust chamber, balance plate, seal, coupling and other components.

1. Impeller

The impeller is made of the wheel, hub and blade riveted, welded or cast as a whole. Its main role is to make the gas through the impeller to increase the pressure and airflow speed.

2. Main shaft

The main shaft is equipped with the rotating parts of the fan, and its role is to transfer torque to make the impeller rotate, generally, the shaft of the centrifugal fan extends outside the casing.

3. Coupling

The coupling connects the drive machine and the fan shaft, transmits the torque of the drive machine, and also plays the role of safety connection.

Lubrication system

Centrifugal blower lubrication system generally uses constant oil level self-flow lubrication, which takes many forms, including oil-filled cups, oil-filled guns, etc., but for large high-speed fans, there are separate oil pumps, oil tanks, filters, coolers and other lubricating oil systems.

Bearing

The bearing is a component to support the rotor and ensure that the rotor can rotate smoothly, while also regulating the radial and axial forces generated by the rotating rotor. For the low pressure and low speed fans, most of them choose sliding bearings; for the medium pressure and high speed fans, most of them choose rolling bearings.
