For ultra-fast plane grinding, our grinding stones and diamond grinding discs are optimized to provide high, consistent removal with low deformation. This reduces time spent on the fine grinding step, as well as your overall preparation time. In tests, our stones have an average removal rate of 474 μm/min. They can be used to plane grind large specimens, or multiple small specimens at once.
Different types of materials require different types of grinding surfaces. To ensure high versatility, we have developed a variety of grinding stones and diamond discs covering a wide range of materials. These include aluminum oxide and silicon carbide stones for normal steels, hardened steels, and soft and ductile materials. For extremely hard materials, such as sintered carbides or ceramics, we supply a diamond grinding disc. For more information, please see our Grinding consumables brochure.
We keep grinding stones in stock to ensure short delivery times to your lab.

Our diamond grinding discs are the state-of-the-art alternative to grinding papers. They provide a much longer lifetime, a more uniform material removal and outstanding planeness. The Aka-Piatto series of grinding discs outperforms grinding papers, especially with harder materials, where grinding papers wear very fast. The result is lower cost per sample along with a much better finish.
Rigid grinding discs are the single step alternative to both grinding papers and diamond grinding discs for fine grinding. Different versions are available to fit the hardness and ductility of your material. When diamond suspension or diamond spray is added during the preparation our Aka-Allegran and Aka-Largan provide optimal fine grinding results.

Grinding papers are traditionally used for plane and fine grinding of all types of materials. Our Rhaco Grit is either based on Al2O3 in the coarser grit sizes for high removal and long lifetime when grinding harder materials, or on SiC in the finer grit sizes for grinding of softer, more ductile materials.
Grinding Stones are used for plane grinding on dedicated high-speed machines for fast removal of material and the preparation of many samples.
