If I upgrade to LED, will the colors be consistent?

If you are looking for more details, kindly visit our website.

Color consistency is a big concern, especially when you are looking to create a specific atmosphere in your lobby or hotel rooms. It&#;s a problem that can surface immediately or as you replace bulbs over time. Your first option is to buy from a reputable manufacturer with a tight color consistency policy. The second option is color tuning. It&#;s a more advanced option that we discuss here.

What is CRI?

Color Rendering Index measures the visual effect a light source has on the perceived color of objects it illuminates. High CRI light generally makes colors natural and vibrant. Low CRI causes come colors to appear washed out or even to take on a completely different hue. In hotels, we generally recommend a CRI of at least 82.

What is CCT?

Correlated Color Temperature gauges how yellow or blue light appears, measured in Kelvin. Warm light sources have low color temperatures (-K), like red, orange, and yellow. Cool light sources have high color temperatures (>K) and feature blue light. In hotels, we generally recommend a Color Temperature in the K to K range.

What is R9 color rendering value?

R9 color rendering value indicates how well your lighting will highlight red colors. Some percentage of R9 is actually found in all of the colors that comprise the CRI scale. When purchasing LED lighting, we recommend an R9 value greater than 60. We explore R9 color rendering value here.

Should I worry about wattage?

Wattage is the measure of how much energy a lamp needs to light up. This will differ based on the application, and if you are using LEDs.

What about lumens?

This measurement expresses the overall light output or quantity of light produced. More lumens means it&#;s a brighter light, less lumens means it&#;s a dimmer light. This may be an important factor as you decide how to set the ambiance of your common areas and guest rooms.

How long do LED lamps and fixtures last?

LEDs are not like traditional light bulbs, where one day they will suddenly not turn on. You may notice they&#;re not as bright when they start to lose their life, but before they stop completely. The actual lifespan depends on the application of the lamp and the fixture.

What&#;s the difference between a lamp and fixture retrofit?

LED Lamp Retrofit Pros LED Lamp Retrofit Cons Quick, easy installation Maximum fixture wattage remains the same (applies to Title 24) Significant efficiency gain Common challenges with dimming Strong rebate programs LED Fixture Retrofit Pros LED Fixture Retrofit Cons Maximum control over light output and placement Longer, more expensive installation Longer life rating that LED lamps Generally higher upfront costs than LED replacement lamps Lower maximum fixture wattage than traditional fixtures Potential for difficulty in upgrading to future emerging technologies Excellent performance for controls and dimming

What is lamp life and how does it compare to rated life?

Average rated life is an average rating, in hours, indicating when 50 percent
of a large group of lamps has failed.

Lamp life is the expected operating time. Most, but not all, lamps will meet
the lamp life hours.

Will dimming lights cause them to flicker?

It&#;s common to dim lights in multiple areas of a hotel, like the lobby, rooms, and a restaurant or event space. Dimming technology today is much better with LEDs, but that doesn&#;t mean you will not run into problems. We look at common issues here.

5 Interior lighting design principles for hotels

Baseline Lighting Design Studio &#; The Peninsula Paris

Lighting is essentially contributing to the atmosphere of the space and the creation of your unique brand&#;s aesthetics. It is lighting that affects your customer&#;s experience and that will value the design of your hotel. Therefore, being aware of the 5 basic methods of lighting design for Hotels will help you understand how lighting consultants create the most suitable ambiance for your space.

Consider the color temperature of your space (CCT)

When you buy a set of lighting, the color temperature is the most important criteria you should consider. It is determined by the function of the space and the atmosphere you want to create. There are three most common ranges:

a) warm light
b) soft white light
c) daylight

For rooms, to create a comfy and drowsy atmosphere, it&#;s recommended to use low color temperature, associated with warm light. Common areas should use bright cold light temperature, considered daylight. Avoid mixing different color temperatures in the same space or you may create visual confusion.

Ensure more than 3 sources of lighting

It is indeed not recommended to use a monotonous light source in your space. For example, two white light fluorescent tubes in the ceiling will create excessive shadows indoors which may your space look rigid and dull.

To produce light source layers inside the room, there should be at least three kinds of primary lighting: ambient lighting, task lighting, and decorative lighting. An efficient lighting design in your hotel bedroom could be composed of overhead fluorescent tubes (part of the ambient lighting), and movable reading lamps on nightstands (part of task lighting). Besides, aesthetic elements of lighting are incorporated to contribute to the characteristics and image of your hotel installing creative lighting solutions which will increase the charm of your space.

Find the goal of your space and establish a visual focus

Deciding on a visual focus will help you make most of the lighting integrated into your space. For instance, once customers have settled for their royal journey, you might want them to visit your restaurant and lounges. Appropriate lighting design can help guide your customers to your facilities. Once inside, focused lighting on tables or a buffet will ensure visitors&#; appreciation of the food presentation. A key focus assures a key interest, and therefore a well-designed invitation for your space.

Avoid glare through indirect lighting

Glare is a visual discomfort that is produced by uncontrolled, excessive brightness and extreme contrast. Glare is best avoided by using indirect lighting where the source of light is hidden. This way, we easily eliminate glare and ensure the light is spread across your space through reflection on the ceiling or wall. Many hotels value ceiling-mounted lighting, giving a luxurious and calming look to the bedroom.

Make appropriate use of dimmers

To enhance the flexibility of the lighting present in your space, lighting designers will set up dimmable lights. Dimmable lights can be used to create different ambiances adapted to parts of the day. For instance, your hallway to customers&#; bedrooms could be brighter during the day but dimmed at night when they are ready to rest. It can also accentuate a part of the space when needed, for example, during a presentation in your hall activity or in the ballroom when visitors take place on the dance floor. Dimmable lighting helps you create a made-to-measure atmosphere in your space, which emphasizes a unique experience for customers.
